The pressure of declining revenues has forced Terrell city officials to make difficult decisions in order to balance the budget. Among those decisions announced last month is the elimination of funding for all City of Terrell part-time positions in the fiscal year beginning October 1.
The department hardest hit by this loss of personnel is the Riter C. Hulsey Public Library.
As a result of the hiring freeze presently in place, the library has two vacant part-time positions. In October three additional positions will be vacated, effectively reducing the library’s workforce by 28 percent.
What's that mean for library patrons?
Well, no Saturday library for one.
You can find out the rest of the changes in this Thursday's Terrell Tribune.
