Lady Tigers cling to playoff hopes

Many people forget the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers had to win their final three regular season to even get in the post-season.

The Terrell Lady Tigers (7-6 in district) are in a similar position as they stand two games behind Red Oak (9-4 in district) for the final playoff spot with three games to go in the regular season.

Problem is, Red Oak holds the tie-breaker by virtue of their season sweep of Terrell. This essentially puts Terrell three games back with three to play.

It is all very simple, Terrell needs to win their remaining three games against West Mesquite, Lancaster and Ennis while Red Oak needs to lose all three games.

Tonight's game against West Mesquite should be interesting given Terrell's narrow loss, 59-57, to the Lady Wranglers four days before Christmas.

It was a game Terrell felt they let get away given the their three point lead midway through the fourth quarter.

West Mesquite stands 11-2 in the district and comes in humming having won six games in row.

It is pretty remarkable the Lady Tigers are even in this position given that very little was expected of them at the start of the season. This shows the excellent job coach Mike Halac is doing.

The Lady Tigers program is on solid footing and will only get stronger in the future as long as Halac is there.
