Just got this from Jeff Jordan at Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative:
The Energy Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has instructed electric power suppliers across Texas to initiate rolling blackouts. TVEC is currently conducting such controlled outages.
The outages are necessary to compensate for a generation shortage due to numerous plant trips that occurred because of the extreme weather.
These outages are controlled, temporary interruptions of electric service, typically lasting 10-30 minutes each. It is not known at this time how long the need for these outages will last.
If members experience an outage lasting longer than 30 minutes, it may be an unscheduled outage and they should report it to TVEC.
