THS boys soccer faces key game

The Terrell boys soccer team faces a big challenge 7 p.m. tonight when they host District 23 leader (17-1, 5-0) Mesquite Poteet at Memorial Stadium.

The Tigers stand 2-2 in the district and will almost certainly battle West Mesquite until the end for the fourth and final playoff sport in the district.

If the Tigers can steal a victory against Poteet, which up to this point has been easier said than done, they will go a long way towards making a mark in a crowded district.

Coach Joe Stephens said last week's bye was invaluable as it afforded time to rest for a banged up squad missing four starters.

It also afforded some time to tinker with different line-up combinations like moving freshman speedster Marcellus Hill up in the attack to create more scoring chances. The move paid off as Hill scored against North Forney and just missed on several other chances.

It should be interesting to see what the Tigers have come up with after a week off to prepare for the district's best team.
